Last night Charlie and I rung in the New Year with the babies. We were able to hold them - doing Kangaroo Care (skin to skin contact) as the year changed. We are doing the Kangaroo Care once a day, usually for an hour or two. Studies have shown that this helps the babies (and the parents).
Paul is off his oxygen now. They are both off the light therpy and on clear fluids only, getting all their nutrition from food (formula and breast milk). At this point, they just have to gain some weight and get older. Lizzie started gaining weight today - she's up to 3 lbs. 2 oz., but Paul is still losing weight and is now at 3 lbs. 5 oz. (this is normal).
The doctors and nurses are very pleased with their progress. All the great people at the hospital have been very helpful in keeping us informed and letting us help - changing diapers, cleaning them, etc.
